October: What we're watching, reading and visiting

October is peak autumn, so why not take advantage with these appropriately
cosy activities, from buzzed about page-turners to charming rom-coms and gallery visits.

We’re reading...

Undoubtedly the most buzzed about read of the season, Intermezzo by Sally
Rooney tells the tale of two brothers, Ivan and Peter who are reeling from the
death of their father. Each has his own romantic entanglement that soon becomes increasingly complicated. Now available, published by Faber & Faber.

We’re watching...

Calling any mid-to-elder millennials who grew up obsessing over The OC and
crushing on Adam Brody’s character Seth Cohen (how can we ever forget the man who coined the term ‘Chrismukkah’, a neat portmanteau of Christmas and
Chanukah). Brody is back in new Netflix TV series Nobody Wants This – a charming romantic comedy co-starring Kirsten Bell that charts the unlikely
romance between an agnostic sex podcaster (Bell) and an unconventional rabbi
(Brody). Streaming now on Netflix.

We’re visiting...

Gormleys at One Charlemont Square, one of Ireland’s largest art and sculpture
exhibitions, where over 250 artworks will be showcased by seminal names such
as Andy Warhol, Banksy, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst and Salvador Dalí. Entrance
is free, the exhibition runs from September 26 to October 17.
