January: Easing In by Candlelight

I love January. Shhhh you say! But I've found I'm not alone. There are lots of us wandering amongst the greater population - those who love the calm after the storm. I embrace the quiet mornings, darkness still enveloping the world. The excuse to light a candle at any point in the day, to work in the warm glow with a hot cup of tea sweetened with some honey. Cooking the season's best with a twist, visiting the Turner watercolours (only available to see now because of the precious winter light).

My love for sparkle will never be dimmed; I work last month's sequins into rotation for daytime wear; I've always loved the juxtaposition of heavy knits and sparkle, of rough tweeds with a high metal shine. Silver is often just the thing to (literally) reflect a clean, fresh start. Those who loved my sequin jeans from December fear not - they will be making a return, most likely with an easy sweater and a wool coat, all pulled together with oversized but minimal earrings. If you bump into me today it's most likely what I'll be wearing to celebrate the simultaneous joy and quiet of this most promising of months. NS x
