New Season Pleasures
The smell of a stationery shop. The clean, fresh sheets in a notebook. The timetable, handwritten and colour coded. I have always loved Back to School time. It wasn't just the new pencil case and the anticipation of catching up on gossip with friends by the lockers - despite the fact we had probably spent the bulk of the summer together. It was that crispness in the air - that cool breeze cutting through the sunshine - and the bronze leaves lining the streets: a new season holds such a brilliant sense of promise. And of course, the wardrobe - cosy knits and a new coat just waiting to be worn. Those joys resolutely remain - but naturally I've also embraced some new shine; I know the power of a gleam of gold or a hint of sparkle in that autumn sun; the power to lift an outfit, or even a whole mood. My edit of Everyday Essentials is my selection of signature go-anywhere, go-with-anything pieces, guaranteed to add a quietly elegant finishing touch to even the darkest of tweeds. Here's to an enjoyable few weeks ahead - bring on the darker evenings, the hunt for the perfect pumpkin and crunching through those leaves - it's not-so-secretly my favourite time of year. Natasha x
